Breast Cancer CD Wins Innovation and Research Award
2005
(PRWEB) September 24, 2005 -- On 15th July Mahoney won the
Innovation and Research Award 2005 at a business awards ceremony
in Cheshire for his work in this area.
Mahoney is no stranger to breaking new ground he also pioneered
the IBS Audio Program 100 a self help program for sufferers
of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), which now used by IBS sufferers
in 34 countries.
An Aid to Emotional Recovery after Breast Cancer is an innovative
in-home-use therapy program of guided imagery, relaxation
and simple explanation of the mind body connection that provides
emotional support and healing to an often-missed patient population,
aimed specifically for to those women who have gone through
the long, difficult, physical trauma that is associated with
breast cancer.
An aid to Emotional Recovery After breast Cancer has now been
embraced by more than 90 UK NHS Hospital Breast Cancer Departments
and the number continues to grow said Mahoney, with interest
also shown by private health care organizations in the UK
and USA, along with support groups as far away as New Zealand
and Australia.
Mahoney said “When physical healing has been completed,
even after some considerable time breast cancer survivors
often feel drained and their ability to cope emotionally becomes
strained when all the support systems provided during treatment
are then withdrawn. Survivors are expected to recover quickly
now that they are healed physically, but the emotional trauma
of their lives are manifested and dealt with long after the
treatment is over. An Aid to Emotional Recovery after Breast
Cancer serves to fill that gap in the support system in the
final stages of healing and recovery”.
Mahoney was delighted to receive the Innovation and Research
Award saying “This award signals the recognition and
validation by the business community, in addition to the existing
recognition from many in the medical profession” said
Mahoney.
My practice is committed to finding new ways of easing distress
and suffering in many areas of injury, illness and disease.
This CD, along with our other programs of assistance, show
complementary medicine has a definite place alongside conventional
treatments.
Dr Ian Wilson, Snr. Partner at Guardian Medical Centre added
"Mike has been working at a high standard in complementary
therapy for many years and this is a further extension of
his excellent work. He continues to push the boundaries of
care to a higher level."
